Highly recommended!

There are plenty of clever and sophisticated books about Terrence Malick and his cinematic oeuvre out there - in English, French, Italian, but only One Big Soul: An Oral History of Terrence Malick (now in its 3rd - and by far most beautifully crafted - reincarnation) shows Mr. Malick not only as a philosopher, poet and auteur, but above all as a human, all too human being.
What else can any serious Malick fan ask for?

Don't be put off by the fact that this book is self-published. Paul Maher Jr. has done an incredible job of information gathering on this notoriously reclusive director to create by far the most accessible, entertaining, and information-packed book you'll find on Terrence Malick. Drawing from nearly every published source on the director and containing a multitude of exclusive interviews with Malick's friends, colleagues, teachers, and classmates, as well as script excerpts and pre-production materials from unfinished projects, he is able to shed light on even the haziest periods of Malick's life (for instance, this book debunks the notion that Malick was "inactive" for 20 years).
While there will doubtless be many more books written on Malick and his career after it draws to close, Paul is doing the invaluable legwork of compiling and chronicling it thus far and as it happens. I have no doubt this book will be used a reference for years to come when studying Malick's life and work.

The ultimate book for filmmakers, fans of film, and Terrence Malick followers

One Big Soul is a beautiful compilation by Paul Maher Jr. of lost and rare interviews with award winning writer, producer, and director Terrence Malick, as well as interviews and gems from talents who have worked with Malick such as cinematographer Emmanuel "Chivo" Lubezki and actors Jessica Chastain, Nick Nolte, Colin Farrel, and the list goes on and on. Superb information on the making of his films, where Malick got his start, how he funded his first feature film "Badlands", and insider information on each of his films from "Badlands", "Days of Heaven", "The Thin Red Line", "The New World", "The Tree of Life", and "To the Wonder". I would highly recommend this book to any film lover or professional.
